The health of young people is the most important component of the nation’s health potential, so the protection and development of students’ health and the development of healthy lifestyles are nowadays very important priorities.
For a good reason recently the role of the Higher School as a social institution has been increased. The higher educational institutions are not only prepare a competent specialist but also an integrated, healthy personality with such qualities and personal characteristics as social activity, orientation to a healthy lifestyle, aesthetic ideals and ethical norms of life.
Human health is the most important value of life. It cannot be bought for any money; it must be protected and supported, developed and improved, promoted and strengthened.
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is one of the main tasks in the diseases and disability prevention among modern students and youth. Healthy lifestyle has not only a preventive direction, but also a great educational value. Maintaining a healthy way of life brings up such qualities as discipline, orderliness, organization, purposefulness.
The WHO Healthy Universities project is based on the principles of the WHO Health for All strategy (the Almaty Declaration of 1978), the philosophy of the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion (1986) and the United Nations Program for the Transition to Sustainable Development Agenda 21 (1992). These program documents contribute to addressing complex problems in the framework of a holistic approach to development, education, upbringing, prosperity and wellbeing of people.
